Minnie Pwerle was born in the Utopia Station region, her paintings show designs used in women's ceremonies called awelye. Her painting methods are spontaneous, and her works are bold and colourful with predominantly free-flowing lines. Minnie Pwerle also has sisters that are well known in the Aboriginal art world. Minnie is a well known and sought after artist and some of her paintings fetch large amounts and are sought after by local and international collectors of Aboriginal art. Minnie Pwerle currently lives in Utopia. Minnies’ daughter, Barbara Weir is also a very well known Aboriginal painter.
